Six years in prison for bus driver who fell into river in St. Petersburg with passengers on board.
This is less than a year for each person who died in that accident.
In May, a terrible accident occurred in St. Petersburg: a bus crossed the fence of the Moika River and fell into the water. As a result, seven passengers died and another was seriously injured.
The bus driver was the first to escape: he left the cabin and swam to shore. This is Rakhmatshoh Kurbonov, a 44-year-old native of Tajikistan.
At the hearing he asked for leniency, since before the accident he had worked a lot and was driving the bus "in a state of fatigue, which impaired his reaction and attention."
Today Kurbonov was found guilty under Part 5 of Art. 264 “Violation of traffic and vehicle operation rules, resulting in the negligence of the death of two or more people.”
Being sent to a general regime colony for 6 years. After his release, he will be banned from driving for two and a half years.
