Father and daughter die after being hit by a car fleeing a police chase.
The victims were traveling on a motorcycle when the vehicle, previously stolen and fleeing at high speed, collided with them.
A 55-year-old man and a 19-year-old girl, father and daughter respectively, lost their lives this Thursday afternoon (4) after a car that was being pursued by the Military Police collided with the motorcycle on which they were traveling.
The tragic event took place in the central area of Piracaia, in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil.
According to the police report, the vehicle had been stolen and had alterations in its serial number. The police tried to stop him, but the driver, a 19-year-old young man, fled, starting a chase.
During the escape, the car was traveling in the opposite direction at high speed; despite the police's attempts to stop it, the man hit the motorcycle and another car that were stopped. Father and daughter were thrown approximately 100 meters away.
Following the collision with the vehicles, the stolen car crashed into a pole before being intercepted by military police.
The deceased were identified as Nivaldo Sérgio de Oliveira and Aryane Cintra de Oliveira.
A third individual was injured when he was hit by the stolen car. The victim, a man, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he is under medical care. No additional details regarding his health status have been provided.
According to the police report, the driver Kelvin Lopes Silva, who was found in the stolen vehicle, was arrested in flagrante delicto. He will face charges of qualified double homicide (possible intent), attempted homicide (possible intent), alteration of vehicle signals, receiving and driving without a license.
