6-year-old boy dies after being forced by his father to run excessively
The boy mentioned that his father made him run on a treadmill "because he was so fat."
Christopher Gregor, 31, appeared in court in the US accused of the alleged murder of his son Corey Micciolo in 2021.
If found guilty, the father will face life in prison.
In a video captured by a surveillance camera, Gregor is seen forcing his son to run at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse gym in New Jersey, where the little boy repeatedly falls due to the high speed, and his father puts him back up. the machine, even appearing to bite him on the head.
The boy's mother, Bre Micciolo, stated that before her son's death, she reported the injuries to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency. On April 1, he asked Gregor to take the boy to the doctor, where Corey revealed that his father had made him run on the treadmill "because he was so fat."
The next day, Gregor took the boy to the hospital due to worrying symptoms such as difficulty breathing and neurological problems.
During medical evaluation, a CT scan would reveal that Corey suffered a seizure, prompting medical staff to attempt to save him without success.
An initial autopsy revealed that Corey died from blunt force injuries with heart and liver contusions, acute inflammation and sepsis.
In September 2021, a forensic pathologist determined that Corey's death was a homicide due to chronic abuse that included blunt impact injuries to the chest and abdomen, with a laceration to the heart, left lung contusion, and laceration and contusion of the liver.
Christopher Gregor was arrested on March 9, 2022 for the death of his son. He has since rejected a 30-year plea deal and is currently in prison in Ocean City without bail. The trial will continue to determine the final sentence.
