Woman dies while trying to take a selfie with the La Emperatriz locomotive.

Unfortunately, despite safety warnings, the deceased woman got too close to the tracks.

The tragedy occurred in the Nopala de Villagrán municipality, in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, this Tuesday, June 4, when the steam train was passing through there.

During the passing of the locomotive, the woman approached for a selfie and was hit in the head.

The steam locomotive Empress 2816, known as “The Empress”, manufactured in 1930, was restored to make its last trip at 94 years of age on an unprecedented tour that covers Canada, the United States and Mexico.

According to local authorities and a video that captured the moment, many spectators were present to watch the iconic train pass and most took photos and videos. Unfortunately, the deceased woman got too close to the tracks.

Despite the lack of intervention by third parties and the apparent lack of awareness of the danger, when trying to take the photo, the woman was hit in the head by the locomotive, with its mass of metal.

She fell to the ground immediately, while her companions rushed to help her. Tragically, he died instantly, without the emergency services being able to do anything.

In the midst of the chaos, the video shows a young man desperately asking for help, while the crowd urgently requested medical assistance. Police evacuated those present to allow forensic experts to investigate the incident, which shocked all witnesses.

Although instructions had been given about the importance of maintaining a safe distance, the excitement of witnessing the historic train led many to neglect precautions, with tragic consequences.
