Oklahoma teacher convicted of sexually abusing 15-year-old student
The teacher exchanged nude photos and sexual videos, according to the minor's testimony.
Emma Delaney Hancock, 28, the daughter of a mayor and wife of the city's police chief, was found guilty Wednesday of soliciting sex from a 15-year-old student she taught.
Hancock, a former substitute teacher in Wellston, began communicating with the boy on Oct. 6, 2022, after he shared his number with her to ask for help with an assignment.
That same night, Hancock sent him a friend request and for several weeks they engaged in a conversation that turned lewd after the student received a nude photo of her through a social media site.
The pair exchanged nude photos and sexual videos, according to the boy's testimony. He alleged that they kissed in a closet during lunch and that Hancock groped him on at least one occasion.
Rumors about their relationship began to circulate after the student told a friend.
Hancock, known as Delaney, denied the incident and claimed not to have sent or received sexual messages from the minor.
She was found guilty of two of the five charges she faced, being acquitted of two for “lewd or indecent acts” and one for “solicitation of sexual conduct with a minor through technology.”
Lincoln County Judge Sheila Kirk sentenced her to six years in prison (three for each charge), although she will serve only four years if she abides by the sentence. In addition, she must register as a sex offender.
