Venezuelan fishing vessel with more than 3,300 kilos of cocaine is intercepted near the Canary Islands.

The boat, which was sailing without lights and heading to Spain, was detected by surveillance teams.

A Venezuelan fishing boat with 10 crew members was intercepted 1,000 miles west of the Canary Islands, transporting more than 3,300 kilos of cocaine in 110 bales.

The operation, coordinated by the Spanish National Police, the Customs Surveillance Service, the DEA, and the police of Portugal and Brazil, was carried out on November 29 with the participation of the Special Operations Ship 'Petrel'.

The boat, which was sailing without lights towards Spain, was detected, while the crew was throwing packages into the sea, confirming the presence of drugs.

The agents found 110 packages, each weighing approximately 30 kilos. The 10 crew members, nine Venezuelans and one Colombian, were detained.

After the arrest, it was discovered that the fishing boat had at least two leaks, which prevented it from being towed. For safety reasons, it was decided to sink it.

Both the detainees and the drugs were taken to the Port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
