Man fell into a well and although he screamed for help, they thought it was a ghost.

It took three days until he was finally rescued by firefighters.

In a small village in Thailand, where traditions and superstitions still mark the pulse of daily life, a man fell into a well and was trapped for three days, not because of difficulties in rescuing him, but for a much more surprising reason: they were afraid to help him because they thought he was a ghost.

The case, according to the Thai press, took place in Mae Sot, a city in the northwest of the country on the border with Myanmar. A Chinese citizen who was visiting the place fell into a 12-meter-deep well. He regained consciousness and then began to scream for help.

From the surface, the villagers heard the screams that were so terrifying, they believed it was the lament of a ghost. Worried by the stories they had been told since childhood, they decided to ignore the complaints, convinced that it was an entity from another world: a ghost.

On the third day, when hope was almost fading, the police and a group of firefighters, alerted by the insistence of a child who had heard the real cry, arrived at the well. The man was rescued in an operation that lasted 30 minutes.

With great effort, they managed to rescue Liu Chuanyi, a 22-year-old man, who emerged covered in dirt, with a fracture, several bruises and obvious signs of dehydration, surprising the men of the village.

The villagers, now ashamed, realized that the real horror was not the well, but their own fear and ignorance. Liu was finally hospitalized, but his life is not in danger, according to the local press.
