Elephant kills teenager at Bangladesh National Zoo.

The zoo trainer entered the elephant enclosure with his son and suddenly an elephant attacked him.


A 17-year-old boy lost his life this Thursday morning after being attacked by an elephant at the Mirpur National Zoo, Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Zahid, 17, son of Azad Ali, an elephant keeper and trainer at the zoo.

Confirming the news of the death, National Zoo Director Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Talukder said the incident took place around 11am.

Azad, the zoo trainer said he entered the elephant enclosure with his son and suddenly an elephant attacked Zahid because he looked like a stranger to the animal.

The elephant grabbed Zahid with his trunk, wrapped him around him, picked up the child and threw him away; as seen in some videos captured by some visitors to the zoo.

The young man was rushed to the hospital, but died on the way.
