Two people killed by electric shock while trying to cross the street in Türkiye

After receiving first aid, both individuals managed to be recovered but, unfortunately, they died in the hospital due to the severity of their injuries

The tragic situation occurred in the Konak district of the Turkish town of Izmir, where two people lost their lives due to an electric shock while trying to cross a puddle during heavy rain.

According to local media, heavy rain had flooded the streets and Özge Ceren Deniz (23) and İnanç Öktemay (44) were electrocuted in a puddle on the road while trying to move.

The victims were in a critical situation, waiting for assistance for minutes, as no one could approach them due to an illegal electricity connection.

Medical teams arrived at the scene and carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, but unfortunately the victims could not overcome the electric shock.

After receiving first aid, both individuals managed to be recovered but, unfortunately, they died in the hospital due to the severity of their injuries. An investigation has been launched to clarify what happened.

Five years ago, a local newspaper warned about the danger posed by the electrical cables on Enver Dündar Başar Street, near the Alsancak ferry dock, pointing out that it could cause deadly tragedies.

It is crucial that the ongoing investigation sheds light on the events that led to this tragic loss of life and that preventive measures are implemented to prevent future similar incidents.
