In the Tisquesusa neighborhood, located in the town of Engativá in Bogotá, neighbors tired of the growing crime, took justice into their own hands against a gang of thieves who had carried out a kidnapping in a home in order to steal the family's belongings.
The community of La Española managed to intercept two of the criminals this Wednesday night, one of whom burst into tears and begged for mercy to avoid further beatings by the neighbors.
“Don't hit me,” cried the thief whose community, enraged by anger, took off most of his clothes after being captured along with his accomplice in the middle of the crime. The other criminals managed to flee.
According to residents of the area, the subjects intended to steal jewelry, money, computers and steal the family vehicle valued at approximately 200 million pesos (about $52,000).
According to testimony from neighbors, the criminals arrived by taxi and motorcycles, managing to intercept and subdue a driver who was entering the garage of the house.
Once inside the house, the criminals subdued the residents and held them hostage for ten minutes, while they stole valuable items. Fortunately, the neighborhood security force responded to the emergency, and a block later, after an exchange of gunfire, they were able to capture two of the individuals who had committed the robbery.
The stolen objects, including the vehicle, were recovered, while other criminals managed to escape on motorcycles that were waiting for them blocks ahead.
