Police officer arrested for femicide in Carabobo

The rapid investigative action allowed for the collection of compelling evidence, including the murder weapon


Carabobo - The authorities of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) managed to clarify the femicide of Merly Yosmary García Herrera (29), who was found dead in her residence in the Calicanto Residencias La Ensenada Urbanization, Rafael Urdaneta parish, municipality Valencia, Carabobo state. The victim had a gunshot wound.

The investigation led by the Coordination of Investigations of Crimes Against Persons of the Valencia Municipal Delegation revealed that Merly had had a heated discussion with her partner, Ronald Alfredo Gamboa Bozo (30), an attached officer of the San Diego Municipal Police. .

The dispute, motivated by Gamboa's jealousy, culminated tragically when he unholstered a 9mm Glock firearm and immediately took Merly's life. Subsequently, the attacker fled the scene aboard an Empire EK Express vehicle, without a license plate.

The authorities carried out an exhaustive investigation process, collecting elements of criminalistic interest that confirmed the criminal responsibility of Ronald Gamboa.

A security deployment was implemented to arrest him, managing to locate him in San Carlos, Cojedes state, when he was heading to Táchira state with the intention of leaving the country. With the support of Cicpc officials in the region, the police officer was captured.

During the operation, the firearm used in the femicide and the motorcycle-type vehicle linked to the incident were seized. Both pieces of evidence remained in the custody of the 31st Prosecutor's Office of the Public Ministry of Carabobo state.
