A gruesome crime shocked the city of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, on Tuesday 19. A young man identified as Victor Silva was accused of brutally murdering his father, Wanderli Ribeiro de Souza, in a square located in the Potilândia neighborhood.
In a scene worthy of a horror movie: the son not only stabbed his victim with a machete, but also tore off his father's head and hid it in a backpack.
According to the police report, the crime occurred at the end of the morning, in an area near the main entrance to the State Government Administrative Center. Witnesses described moments of panic and horror when Victor attacked his father. After committing the brutal act, the young man fled the scene, carrying the backpack with his father's head and some sharp weapons.
The Military Police's quick reaction was crucial in capturing the criminal. Once the corporation learned of the crime, it began patrolling the area. Victor was located near a tunnel of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, where he resisted arrest and was wounded in the leg.
According to neighbors, the man was a drug user and decided to kill his father after being thrown out of the house. He already had a history of violence. The man even set fire to the house where his father lived.
This brutal crime not only shocked the local community, but also raised questions about the young man's mental health, as the description of the events suggests a state of extreme disorder. The authorities now face the difficult task of understanding what could have led a son to commit such an act against his own father.
