Taciana Maria Ramos, 36, was brutally stabbed to death by her partner, Josimar Gomes do Santos, 37, during the early hours of last Monday (14), in Araçariguama, in the interior of São Paulo, Brazil.
The Military Police were patrolling when they found Josimar covered in blood. When they approached him, he quickly confessed to the crime and justified the murder out of jealousy. According to his testimony, Taciana had sent intimate photos to another man. The victim was stabbed 12 times and her body was subjected to forensic examination before being delivered to a local funeral home.
After the confession, Josimar was transferred to the São Roque Police Station, where he was arrested for femicide. At the custody hearing, held shortly after the crime, the São Paulo Court of Justice transformed his arrest from flagrant arrest to preventive arrest, meaning he will remain in custody during the proceedings.
The case of violence was not the first episode between the couple. In 2019, Taciana had registered a police complaint against Josimar for bodily injury and domestic violence. At the time, he attacked her with two stab wounds in the back and she had to pretend to be dead to escape. Despite the seriousness of the assaults, Taciana decided not to pursue the complaint and did not request protective measures.
