"I killed her, she's in the garbage": The chilling story of a mother-in-law who murdered her daughter-in-law in Chile.

According to police, the motivation for the crime was that the son was going to leave home with his partner and their daughter.

Estefany Carolina Morales Gutiérrez, a 22-year-old Venezuelan woman from Zulia, is believed to be the victim of the brutal crime that occurred on March 27.

The woman had a two-year-old daughter and was legally residing in Chile in the Pedro Aguirre Cerda neighborhood, accompanied by her daughter, her partner, and her mother-in-law, who ultimately took her life.

After the precautionary measure of preventive detention was issued against the accused for the murder of her daughter-in-law, details concerning the crime were revealed.

The incident came to light after her son, Estefany's partner, arrived at the house and asked for her. Her mother told him she didn't know her whereabouts, so he went out to look for her. When he returned, the now accused allegedly confessed to the crime.

"She won't hurt you anymore," he told her, "I killed her, she's in the garbage can." After hearing her confession, the man went to report her to the police station.

According to the Osorno prosecutor's office, after committing the crime, the mother-in-law "proceeded to thoroughly clean the residence, place the victim's body in a bag, dispose of it in a trash container, and then change her clothes, items that were recovered during the investigation."

For his part, Deputy Prefect Javier Yusthy explained that the crime had occurred specifically in the building's dining room and that the victim "had 19 stab wounds."

The prosecutor maintained that, through the investigations carried out, including statements from persons of interest, it has been possible to establish that only the defendant, the victim, and her two-year-old daughter, the attacker's granddaughter, were inside the home at the time of the murder.

At the hearing, the Prosecutor's Office explained that based on all the statements taken, especially from the family, the motivation for the crime was that the son was going to leave their shared home with his partner and their daughter.

"They had already rented a home and were going to leave the next day," the Prosecutor's Office added, asserting that the defendant had objected to this.

The Osorno Guarantee Court ordered the woman—the victim's mother-in-law—to be held in pretrial detention because she was considered a danger to society, and a 100-day period was established for the investigation into this gruesome crime.
