Serial feminicide discovered after investigation into abuse and murder of 17-year-old girl

To the surprise of the police, they found in his home skulls, remains of at least 20 bodies and several objects that link him to murders.

On April 16, Miguel Cortés Miranda, a 40-year-old Mexican pharmacobiologist chemist, forcibly broke into the home of María José, a 17-year-old neighbor, sexually assaulted her and subsequently took her life.

In the middle of the attack, the minor's mother returned to the apartment and upon hearing cries for help coming from her daughter's room, she ran to look for her and found the aggressor, who when fleeing attacked her with a knife.

The teenager died, while the mother was rushed to a hospital due to the injuries she received, her condition being serious.

But the young woman would not have been his only victim.

In the middle of the investigation, the case took a horrifying turn, when an alleged series of femicides that the man had committed in the Iztacalco mayor's office, in Mexico City, were revealed.

As part of the criminal investigation of the young woman's case, the police decided to search her home, in which they surprisingly found skulls, remains of at least 20 bodies and several objects that link her to murders.

The Prosecutor's Office began an investigation against him after the evidence recently shown.

Likewise, they found identifications of at least twenty women, some of them students, laboratory workers, sex workers and co-workers. They also found tools that could have been used to dismember the victims.

The CDMX Prosecutor's Office announced that Miguel Cortés Miranda will be detained for the duration of the investigations, after sufficient evidence was found that associates him with more crimes. In addition, seven crimes committed by this person have already been identified.
