The mayor of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Alejandro Arcos, was brutally murdered last Sunday, three days after protesting in local media about the murder of his general secretary, Francisco Tapia.
According to media reports, Arcos was decapitated and his head was found on the roof of a Volkswagen Robust, while his body lay in the driver's seat.
That morning, he had been visiting the neighborhoods most affected by the rains and floods that are ravaging the state.
During his electoral campaign, Arcos claimed not to have received any threats and promised to maintain peace in Chilpancingo as one of his main objectives.
Agents from the Guerrero investigative police went to the scene to carry out the necessary investigations and obtain evidence that will help clarify the violent crime.
