Abduction of mother and son is captured by security cameras
A mother and her son were kidnapped in broad daylight on Tuesday in the South African city of Thohoyandou.
The entire ordeal was captured on security cameras, which have proven vital in reconstructing the final moments in which an unidentified woman and her son were kidnapped.
In the video, a dark Volvo sedan is seen stopping in front of a residence where a man, identified as the son, was retrieving items from his vehicle.
Before he could react, the man was approached by two men carrying assault rifles. As he was being led to the Volvo sedan, a woman, identified by sources as the mother, was pulled from the blue hatchback and pushed toward the suspects' vehicle.
It is believed that the victims were still in captivity when this article was published and the Limpopo police still do not know their whereabouts.
Last week, Sonam Gajjar, wife of a renowned businessman, was similarly kidnapped.
According to Eastern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the incident occurred early on Wednesday morning when Gajjar was leaving his home on Mosel Road.
Fortunately, Gajjar was released unharmed by her captors after her family paid a ransom demand of two million rand, equivalent to about $100,000.
